American Independent Shipping Company was established in Chicago, Illinois in 1991 to provide shippers high quality, cost effective transportation service. The company’s specialty was the inland and ocean transportation of oversize, heavy lift and special project cargoes moving from the United States to Asia, Australia and Europe. American Independent offered shippers a flexible service for oversized cargo, either port to port or door to door, with a unique pricing concept of lump sum, all inclusive rates. American Independent expanded in 1998 by offering customers inland and ocean transportation of oversized cargo from the United States to the Mediterranean, Middle East, South and Central America and South Africa. Customer service and sales are headquartered in Chicago; administration is located in New York. American Independent’s overseas agency network includes over 60 professional agents worldwide. American Independent Shipping Company and American Independent Line are industry recognized experts in the transportation of oversize, heavy lift and special project cargoes.
